VOLTDASH

Privacy Policy

Applies to the VoltDash mobile app (com.asammitte.voltdash) and the voltdash.asammitte.com website.
Last updated: 3 August 2026

The short version. VoltDash reads Bluetooth broadcasts from your Victron equipment and shows them on your phone. That energy data never leaves your device. We have no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. The only information that leaves your phone is what is needed to verify a Pro purchase.

1. Who we are

VoltDash is developed and operated by Kostiantyn Pavlichenko (“we”, “us”), trading as asammitte. You can reach us at asammitte@gmail.com for any question about this policy or about your data.

2. Data that stays on your device

VoltDash listens passively to encrypted Bluetooth Low Energy advertisements broadcast by Victron Energy devices. It never connects to your equipment and never uploads its readings. The following is stored only in the app’s private storage on your phone and is not transmitted to us or to anyone else:

  • The AES encryption keys (“bind keys”) you enter to decrypt your devices’ broadcasts
  • Device names, nicknames and the list of devices you have added
  • Live and recent telemetry — state of charge, voltage, current, power, temperature and similar readings
  • Your app settings, theme, units, widget configuration and notification preferences

Uninstalling VoltDash deletes all of it. We have no copy and no way to recover it.

3. Data that leaves your device

Purchases and subscriptions

If you buy VoltDash Pro, we use RevenueCat, Inc. to validate your purchase and keep your entitlement in sync across reinstalls and devices. For that purpose the following is transmitted to RevenueCat:

  • Purchase history — which product you bought, when, whether the subscription is active, and the purchase receipt issued by Google Play
  • An anonymous identifier — a random ID generated by RevenueCat to link your purchases to your installation. It is not your name, email, phone number or advertising ID, and we cannot use it to identify you personally
  • Basic technical context RevenueCat needs to process the above, such as platform, app version, country and locale

This data is required — the purchase system cannot work without it — and it is used solely for app functionality. It is not used for advertising, marketing, profiling or analytics, and it is not sold or shared with any third party for their own purposes. RevenueCat processes it as our service provider under their own privacy policy, on servers in the United States.

The payment itself is handled entirely by Google Play. We never see or receive your card number, billing address or any other payment credential.

App updates

VoltDash can update its user interface without a full store release. To do this the app fetches a small version file and, if a newer version exists, an update package from a public GitHub repository. These are ordinary HTTPS requests: GitHub’s servers see your IP address and the version you are downloading, as they would for any file download.

The update component we use is provided by Capgo. When an update is downloaded, applied, reverted or fails, it reports that event to Capgo’s servers together with:

  • An installation identifier — a random identifier generated by the update component for your installation. It contains nothing about you personally, but it is designed to persist if you reinstall the app
  • The app’s package name and platform, the app and OS version numbers, which interface version you moved from and to, what happened, and when

On Android 11 and newer, the same component also reports why the app last shut down, if it did so unexpectedly — for example a crash, an “application not responding” freeze, or the system closing the app to reclaim memory. That report includes the reason code, a short technical description of the failure, the app’s memory usage at the time and the process name. It does not include the contents of your screen, your device list, your bind keys or any readings from your equipment.

All of this is used only to confirm that updates are being delivered and applied correctly and to detect broken releases. It contains no telemetry from your Victron equipment, no location data and no advertising identifier, and it is not used for advertising or profiling. See Capgo’s privacy policy.

Nothing else

VoltDash contains no advertising SDK and no product-analytics SDK. Beyond the update reporting described above, it does not track how you use the app — which screens you open, which features you use or how long you spend in it. It does not collect your location, contacts, photos, files, messages, calendar, browsing history or health data. It does not require or offer an account, so there is no username, password or email address associated with your use of the app.

4. Permissions and why we ask for them

  • Bluetooth (scan and connect) — to receive the broadcasts from your Victron equipment. On Android the scan is declared with the neverForLocation flag, meaning we tell the system we will not use Bluetooth results to derive your location
  • Approximate location (Android 11 and older only) — older versions of Android would not permit any Bluetooth scanning without this permission. We do not read, use, store or transmit your location. On Android 12 and newer this permission is not requested at all
  • Foreground service and notifications — to keep monitoring your system and to show the live status notification and home-screen widgets while the app is in the background
  • Run at startup — to restore background monitoring after your phone reboots, if you have enabled it
  • Internet — used only for the purchase and update functions described above

5. The website

The voltdash.asammitte.com website sets no advertising or tracking cookies and runs no analytics. If a signup form is present on the site and you choose to submit it, the email address and device preference you enter are sent to our email marketing provider, Kit (formerly ConvertKit), and used only to contact you about VoltDash availability and updates. Every message we send includes an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time by emailing us. We do not sell or rent email addresses.

6. How long we keep data

Purchase records are retained by RevenueCat and Google for as long as needed to honour your entitlement, handle refunds and restores, and meet tax and accounting obligations. Email addresses collected through the website are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Data held on your phone is kept until you delete it or uninstall the app.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live — including under the GDPR in the EU/EEA and UK, and the CCPA in California — you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict its processing, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for targeted advertising.

To exercise any of these rights, email asammitte@gmail.com. Because the app has no accounts, please include the Google Play order number from your purchase confirmation so we can locate the right record. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Children

VoltDash is a tool for owners of solar, marine and vehicle electrical systems. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

All data transmitted by the app travels over encrypted HTTPS/TLS connections. Your bind keys and telemetry are held in the app’s private storage area, which other apps on your device cannot read. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep the amount of data leaving your phone to the minimum the app needs to function.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change what data the app collects, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will also be announced in the app’s release notes.
